If you earn more than you require, you can put the surplus to work helping businesses create value for others – for customers, employees, and communities – while sharing in the growth.

That is investing.

Paper Tiger is a publication platform and research lab dedicated to helping thoughtful investors improve their skills and compound wealth responsibly over decades.

What we believe

Economic wealth is a small part of a rich life, but a powerful enabler of growth, freedom, and opportunity. Creating and growing it thoughtfully is a worthy pursuit.

Investing is rife with uncertainty, and markets have crowned more than a few accidental sages. But skill matters. Judgment can be studied, tested, sharpened, and improved – and investors who decline the invitation to study pay tuition in one way or another.

The platform

Paper Tiger is being built in four parts:

  1. Publication – Essays on investing, capitalism, compounding, and long-term value creation.
  2. Library(in the stacks) A curated collection of books, papers, and resources for serious students of wealth building.
  3. Charting Lab(under construction) Interactive tools for visualizing performance and evaluating investment scenarios.
  4. Marketplace(coming soon) A platform where publishers can share model portfolios, and subscribers can find approaches they may wish to follow – with results independently verified by Paper Tiger.

Who Paper Tiger is for

Paper Tiger is for people who want to put surplus capital to work intelligently over long periods of time (10, 20 years, or more).

You need not be a professional investor. But you should read carefully, think quantitatively, and not blanch at an equation.

The name

Yes, the name is ironic.

A “paper tiger” looks formidable but lacks substance. In investing, the reverse can be true: the least tangible things – an idea, a model, a choice – can be the most formidable.

The name also keeps us humble, which is useful in a field that is rough on fools and not always gentle with the wise.
